From inside a Cofan community who hold the Ayahuasca plant sacred, we will show the passing of traditional knowledge in relation to the plant and the conflict that occurred when Loren Miller was awarded U.S. patent #5751 of the Ayahuasca "da Vine" variety. The story of the plant's use inside the community will be paralleled with the story of the indigenous groups' solicitation to remove the patent.
