Exercises in Static and Dynamic Compostion. Students set up and videotape a series of shots that highlight the formal considrations and compositional strategies outlined in class. They take into account how movement can accentuate the composition. They also consider positive and negative space, depth in the frame, symmetry/asymmetry, balance, reshaping the frame, texture, contrast and value. Dynamic compositional strategies guide their decisions about how each shot contributes to the overall sequence.
